The result of conducting a "Research on North Korean Economic and Social Conditions" targeting North Korean defectors entering Korea revealed that North Koreans' cell phone usage increased.
Before 2000, it was only 0.5% but gradually increased every year; 41% of North Korean used cell phones from 2016 to 2019. The purpose of the call was mainly personal business (41.5%) and greetings (32.6%), whereas information exchange (8.6%) and official work (3.8%) takes a relatively low percentage. Meanwhile, mobile phone and computer possession rates were 14.3% and 8.8%, respectively, TV (70.8%).
We pray that the current situation of increasing mobile phone usage may increase opportunities for spreading the Gospel.
" And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should (Colossians 4:3-4)"
Relying on the Word, we pray that the doors of evangelism will open wide in North Korea. Although the North Korean authorities closely monitor the inflow of external information and residents' movements, internal mobile phone usage is still soaring. May the situation become an opportunity for the North Korean Christians to share the Gospel and tell the mystery of Jesus Christ. Then, God, the sovereign of evangelism, will touch the hearts of those who do not believe to be transformed by the Word of truth.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
