On the birthdays of Kim Il-sung (April 15) and Kim Jong-il (February 16), North Korea invites organizations and individuals to pay tribute to statues of Kim family members or private monuments. In recent years, an increasing number of North Koreans have stopped visiting the statue, largely for financial reasons. The cost of buying bouquets or baskets of flowers for the visits is unaffordable, and the fatigue of visiting the statue every time there is a political occasion, even if it is not the supreme leader's birthday, is another reason. Under these circumstances, the Chengjin City Security Office is investigating the behavior of residents over the past 16 days to see if they have visited the statue.
“There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish,
and gold from Uphaz,
the work of the artificer and of the hands of the goldsmith;
Blue and purple are their clothing;
they are all the work of skillful men. But Yahweh is the true God;
he is the living God,
and an everlasting King.
At his wrath, the earth trembles,
and the nations are not able to withstand his indignation. “You shall say this to them: ‘The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.’””(Jeremiah 10:9~11)
Pray for the people of North Korea who are forced to worship idols. We pray that the statues of the Kim family, eternal life towers, historical monuments, mosaic murals, and other idols erected throughout the country will be removed and that the name of the true God, the eternal King, and the living God will be exalted. Help North Korea to stop committing the sin of idolatry and become a nation and people who praise and worship God alone.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
