The U.S. State Department released an official statement calling for the immediate release of North Korean missionary Kim Jung Wook, who has been held for 4,000 days, saying, “We call for the immediate and unconditional release of all persons wrongfully detained in North Korea.” Along with Kim, five South Korean nationals are currently believed to be held in North Korea. Some of them have been imprisoned for more than a decade, and the North Korean authorities have been silent for years about whether they are alive or dead. Pray that those imprisoned will endure and finish the race of faith and that the Lord's good will will be done through them.
“Remember those in prison, as if you were in prison with them; remember those who are mistreated, as if you yourself were being mistreated,” Hebrews 13:3 (NKJV)
Father, we lift up the six missionaries and North Korean defectors detained in North Korea. May your hand hold them and keep them, and may they run the race of faith with perseverance as they are comforted by your Holy Spirit day by day. May we remember and pray for those detained and abused in North Korea as if we were them. Keep safe other workers who are risking their lives for the salvation of North Korea, and through them, fulfill Your will for North Korea.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
