“Pastor Lee! Leave now! You cannot stay here” said grandma who made a hot soup for me while I was shivering with chills in the back room after having a difficult time delivering bibles. I felt her frost bitten calloused hand as she firmly shook my hand. And she wept as she turned around saying, “At least you were not beaten!”.
As we departed, I also began to cry. A person who drove us to the airport said, “She is one of the few surviving Christians.” She was one of the Christians who were born in the year 1920 and experienced the bitter Chinese history.
I too was arrested and tortured. And that short time felt never ending. Although I came home, I could not remember everything due to electric torture. And bleeding continued as side effect of water torture. Coming out of prison does not mean that the pain is forgotten. As time passed, my physical and mental pain is getting worse. That happened in the year 1991. And in the year 2001, God tells me to return to that same place. I did not want to go back for it was during cold winter where I was beaten and tortured.
During the last 31 years of delivering bibles to North Korea, every day was a re-created day that God has allowed for me to live as a sojourner and a fugitive following the way of the cross of Christ. Amid all the suffering, God has entrusted His tasks to his servant.
God has blessed me to long for the day to see His people in North Korea return to God one by one delighting themselves in the Lord.
What can one person do….
What can one mission organization accomplish….
that God is calling His people one by one to establish Cornerstone Ministries….
God has entrusted me the task of restoring North Korea to God’s Kingdom by melting the frozen land of the North with His Word and His Spirit.
God is using persecuted Christians in North Korea to prepare for unification so that they can worship God freely. But God will bring about unification when we beckon Him in prayer. Will you join us to pray for that day come swiftly? Unification must come for us to go to the ends of the world with the North Korean Christians. That is why we are preparing specifically for unification. God must be in a hurry that he is bringing together churches, ministries, foundations and professionals from the world building KRIN, (Korea Reconciliation Initiative Network).
As we lift up all the preparation of unification to our Ebenezer God, God is looking for that one person who will pray for peaceful unification to crack open the door of unification. Will you be the one?
